Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Foxglove Haven Insurance is an insurance company in Chicago with claims and service teams, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer complaints, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with customer complaints. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, mornings. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Chicago. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
