Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Summit Maple Manufacturing is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for machine downtime, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to machine downtime, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with machine downtime. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Madison. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
