Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Fernwood Timber Learning Group operates schools and learning programmes around Memphis. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 122 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to family communication, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around learning materials against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with family communication. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, with flexible days. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Memphis. • We reply to every applicant.
