Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

We are growing our team at Northwind Timber Construction and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. We build things that last and we are honest about schedules. What you will do • Track costs around change orders against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with materials orders. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Grand Rapids. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
