Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Stonegate Iron Early Learning Group · Remote · contract

Stonegate Iron Early Learning Group is an early-learning provider in Knoxville, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. Children come first and so does looking after the teachers. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to tuition and subsidies, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with tuition and subsidies. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Knoxville. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
