Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Northwind Lakeside Environmental Services collects and processes waste and recycling around Toledo. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 128 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Track costs around collection routes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Toledo. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
