Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Cedar Stone Transit Planning · Remote · contract

Cedar Stone Transit Planning plans bus and rail service for cities around Baltimore, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 56 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around survey data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to route schedules, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with route schedules. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Baltimore. • We reply to every applicant.
