Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Bright Loom Insurance sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Rochester, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. We invest in training for new adjusters. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to claims, and clear open items. • Track costs around premium billing against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, mornings. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Rochester. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
