Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Nova Fern Environmental Services is an environmental-services company in Jackson with routes, transfer stations and recycling. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 190 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around fleet maintenance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to collection routes, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Jackson. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
