Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Providence, RI)

Cedar Forge Transit Planning is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for ridership counts, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We like people who ride the bus and notice when things do not work. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around accessibility audits against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with ridership counts. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Providence, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
