Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Oakland, CA)

Ironwood Mill Care Services is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for care plans, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around caregiver training against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with care plans. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Oakland, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
