Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Memphis, TN)

Westbrook Granite Housing is a nonprofit housing provider in Memphis, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. We value patience and follow-through. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to maintenance stores, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around rent assistance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with maintenance stores. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Memphis. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
