Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Madison, WI)

Westbrook Amber Construction is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for change orders, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We build things that last and we are honest about schedules. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to change orders, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with change orders. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Madison. • We reply to every applicant.
