Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Jackson, MS)

Amberfield Clear Energy delivers power and gas plans across the Jackson region. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a large organisation of about 518 people based in Jackson. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to hardship programmes, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around service connections against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with hardship programmes. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Jackson, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
