Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Jackson, MS)

Westbrook Orchard Arts Center runs a venue and education programmes in Jackson. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 73 people based in Jackson. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around ticketing against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to school partnerships, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Jackson, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
