Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Hartford, CT)

We are growing our team at Westbrook Orchard Arts Center Group and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 199 people based in Hartford. What you will do • Track costs around visitor services against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ticketing, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with ticketing. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Hartford. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
