Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Hartford, CT)

Fernwood Mill Facilities is a facilities company in Hartford with crews on day and night shifts. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 129 people based in Hartford. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with safety inspections. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Hartford. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
