Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Grand Rapids, MI)

Amberfield Junction Press prints books, catalogues and packaging from its Grand Rapids plant. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a large organisation of about 736 people based in Grand Rapids. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer orders, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with customer orders. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Grand Rapids, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
