Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Des Moines, IA)

Summit Fox Construction Group is a Des Moines contractor with project managers, trades and support staff. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Des Moines. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to change orders, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around permits against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with change orders. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Des Moines. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
