Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Des Moines, IA)

Nova Forge Energy is an energy provider in Des Moines focused on reliable service and fair billing. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around billing disputes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meter readings, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with meter readings.
