Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Cleveland, OH)

Fernwood Thistle Learning Group is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for enrolment, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We follow the school calendar and we like people who like learning. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to enrolment, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around learning materials against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with enrolment. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Cleveland. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
