Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Austin, TX)

Fernwood Harbor Care Services Group is a social-care provider serving older adults and people with disabilities around Austin, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around family communication against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with visit scheduling. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Austin. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
