Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Anchorage, AK)

Harborlight Bright Insurance sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Anchorage, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. You would join a small organisation of about 183 people based in Anchorage. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer complaints, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with customer complaints. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Anchorage. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
