Senior Accountant - fixed assets (Virginia Beach, VA)

We are growing our team at Nova Haven Learning Group and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be fixed assets. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Virginia Beach. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to school calendars, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with school calendars. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Virginia Beach. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
