Senior Accountant - fixed assets (San Diego, CA)

Fernwood Iron Insurance is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on fixed assets for policy renewals, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 45 people based in San Diego. What you will do • Track costs around premium billing against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with policy renewals. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
