Senior Accountant - fixed assets (Rochester, NY)

Nova West Energy is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on fixed assets for outage response, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We work closely with regulators and communities. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to outage response, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around meter readings against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Rochester. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
