Senior Accountant - fixed assets (Rochester, NY)

Nova Ridge Insurance is an insurance company in Rochester with claims and service teams, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a small organisation of about 11 people based in Rochester. What you will do • Track costs around premium billing against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to claims, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with claims. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Rochester. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
