Senior Accountant - fixed assets (Jackson, MS)

Ironwood Corner Markets serves neighbourhoods around Jackson with fresh food and everyday goods. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would join a small organisation of about 76 people based in Jackson. What you will do • Track costs around store inventory against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to supplier deliveries, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with supplier deliveries. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Jackson. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
