Senior Accountant - fixed assets (Jackson, MS)

Westbrook Junction Housing Group manages affordable housing communities across Jackson, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a small organisation of about 174 people based in Jackson. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around lease compliance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with repair requests. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Jackson, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
