Senior Accountant - fixed assets (Grand Rapids, MI)

Harborlight Ember Press prints books, catalogues and packaging from its Grand Rapids plant. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would join a small organisation of about 21 people based in Grand Rapids. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to press runs, and clear open items. • Track costs around bindery work against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with press runs. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Grand Rapids, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
