Senior Accountant - fixed assets (Austin, TX)

Fernwood Juniper Transit Planning Partners plans bus and rail service for cities around Austin. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would join a small organisation of about 65 people based in Austin. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ridership counts, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around service alerts against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with ridership counts. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Austin. • We reply to every applicant.
