Senior Accountant - audit preparation (San Diego, CA)

Ironwood Junction Housing Partners is a nonprofit housing provider in San Diego. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on audit preparation. Housing is our mission and residents are our neighbours. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to waiting lists, and clear open items. • Track costs around rent assistance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in San Diego, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
