Senior Accountant - audit preparation (Rochester, NY)

Northwind Thistle Markets serves neighbourhoods around Rochester with fresh food and everyday goods. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on audit preparation. We are friendly and busy, especially on weekends. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around store inventory against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with supplier deliveries. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Rochester. • We reply to every applicant.
