Senior Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Fernwood Pine Staffing connects candidates and employers across the Virginia Beach region, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our audit preparation. Recruiters here keep in touch with people long after placement. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to client orders, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with client orders. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Virginia Beach. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
