Senior Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Ironwood Juniper Foods makes sauces, snacks and prepared meals in Portland, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Track costs around sanitation schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer specifications, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
