Senior Accountant - audit preparation (Oakland, CA)

Bright Harbor Environmental Services is an environmental-services company in Oakland with routes, transfer stations and recycling. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on audit preparation. Early starts and steady work; we look after our drivers. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to recycling loads, and clear open items. • Track costs around service complaints against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Oakland. • We reply to every applicant.
