Senior Accountant - audit preparation (Memphis, TN)

Rivermark Junction Housing manages affordable housing communities across Memphis, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 146 people based in Memphis. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around repair requests against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to rent assistance, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with rent assistance. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Memphis, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
