Senior Accountant - audit preparation (Kansas City, MO)

Fernwood Sparrow Freight is a Kansas City logistics company with trucks, warehouses and dispatch, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our audit preparation. Dispatch, drivers and warehouse staff talk to each other constantly. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around carrier rates against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to claims, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Kansas City. • We reply to every applicant.
