Senior Accountant - audit preparation (Grand Rapids, MI)

Ironwood Stone Environmental Services Group serves homes and businesses with collection and disposal in Grand Rapids. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would join a large organisation of about 606 people based in Grand Rapids. What you will do • Track costs around collection routes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service complaints, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with service complaints. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Grand Rapids. • We reply to every applicant.
