Senior Accountant - audit preparation (Grand Rapids, MI)

Summit Ivory Inspection Services is an inspection company in Grand Rapids with field technicians and lab staff, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 25 people based in Grand Rapids. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to field inspections, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with field inspections. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Grand Rapids, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
