Senior Accountant - audit preparation (Grand Rapids, MI)

Northwind Quarry Environmental Services Group is an environmental-services company in Grand Rapids with routes, transfer stations and recycling. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on audit preparation. We take pride in clean streets. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fleet maintenance, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with fleet maintenance. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Grand Rapids, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
