Senior Accountant - audit preparation (Fort Worth, TX)

Fernwood Summit Insurance is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on audit preparation for claims, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We care about how people feel on the worst day of their year. What you will do • Track costs around premium billing against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to claims, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Fort Worth. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
