Senior Accountant - audit preparation (Cleveland, OH)

Amberfield Harbor Transit Planning plans bus and rail service for cities around Cleveland, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 148 people based in Cleveland. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service alerts, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Cleveland, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
