Senior Accountant - audit preparation (Chicago, IL)

Fernwood Basin Legal Group is a Chicago practice with attorneys, paralegals and client-service staff. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on audit preparation. People here care about clients, not just cases. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to document review, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Chicago. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
