Senior Accountant - audit preparation (Birmingham, AL)

Redstone Meadow Staffing connects candidates and employers across the Birmingham region. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on audit preparation. Recruiters here keep in touch with people long after placement. What you will do • Track costs around client orders against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to onboarding, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
