Senior Accountant - audit preparation (Birmingham, AL)

Foxglove Timber Insurance is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on audit preparation for customer complaints, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We invest in training for new adjusters. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer complaints, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with customer complaints. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Birmingham. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
