Senior Accountant - audit preparation (Austin, TX)

Bright Vista Markets operates grocery and general-merchandise stores around Austin, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our audit preparation. We like people who know our customers by name. What you will do • Track costs around store inventory against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with pricing. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Austin. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
