Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Seattle, WA)

We are growing our team at Ironwood Cross Environmental Services and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 38 people based in Seattle. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to weigh tickets, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around landfill records against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with weigh tickets. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Seattle. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
