Senior Accountant - accounts payable (San Diego, CA)

Bluepeak Quill Freight coordinates shipments and warehousing around San Diego, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our accounts payable. On-time is the promise and we work hard to keep it. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer tracking, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with customer tracking. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in San Diego. • We reply to every applicant.
