Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Rochester, NY)

Cedar Maple Housing Partners is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for resident services, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around maintenance stores against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with resident services. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Rochester, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
